According to an analysis by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) of data from the Internal Revenue Service for 2000 to 2005, 828,744 people moved to the 20 county Atlanta Region from another state. In terms of net migration into these 20 Atlanta Region counties from other states, New York contributed a net of 38,000, California contributed a net of 17,198 and Florida contributed a net of 15,774.
The Atlanta Region had a net outflow to very few states with Colorado leading the way with only 700 people in this 5-year period.
Excellent employment opportunities, reasonable cost of living, abundant lifestyle choices and affordable real estate are typical factors favoring the Atlanta Region.
