The Atlanta region has averaged almost 84,000 new residents each year since 2000 but this level slowed from April 2007 to April 2008 to 70,200. The City of Atlanta is booming. It had the largest single year population gain in almost 40 years with 13,100 persons moving in. Fulton County led the Atlanta region in growth due mostly to the strong performance of the City of Atlanta.
