Why Amenity Seeking Adults Relocate to Georgia?
That’s a $64,000 question or, from another view, an answer which 64,000 people can give. From 1995 to 2000, over 64,000 people 60 years of age and older moved to Georgia from another state.  That’s 13,000 “retirees” or “near retirees” every year and by now those numbers are undoubtedly much higher. In fact, Georgia is at least in the top six of all the U. Retiring in Georgia from Florida

Most of us are so accustomed to thinking about retirees who move to Florida, that we lose sight of those who leave Florida for other places. The exchange of migrants between Georgia and Florida is a case in point. The number moving between these two states in different directions favors Georgia. Actually, more retirees move to Georgia from Florida than the other way around (16,370 to Georgia; 11,515 to Florida). These numbers are based on the 2000 census, before the hurricanes of the last few years. Free Tuition at Georgia Universities and Colleges
The University System of Georgia represents all 35 public colleges and universities around the state of Georgia. Some example institutions include the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech as well as East Georgia College, a two-year institution in Swainsboro near Savannah. Tuition is free to Georgia residents 62 years of age or older. More info >
 
Georgia Population Growth 4th Largest in Country
According to the U. S. Census estimates for the period July 1, 2005 to July 1, 2006, Georgia’s population was the fourth fastest growing in the nation in terms of both percentage and numbers. For the period, Georgia added 231,388 residents which was a 2.5% increase. During this period, Georgia led all Sun Belt states, including Florida, in terms of percentage increase.  More info>
